Wahkeena Falls is a scenic waterfall in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, a tiered waterfall that drops about 242 feet down a moss-covered basalt cliff in a series of veiled, cascading steps rather than one big plunge. The name Wahkeena comes from a Native American (reportedly Yakama) word meaning “most beautiful.”
The waterfall sits in a lush, forested canyon filled with maples, ferns, and mosses typical of the Columbia River Gorge’s temperate rain-shadow environment.
