Reasons to Visit the Hood River Valley this Fall
By: Mary Pellegrini
Summer is lingering, but there's a subtle change to the air. Have you noticed? We sure have. The vine maples, the first to show their fall colors, have started to change. It won't be long before the brilliant colors in the Mt Hood National Forest and the Columbia River Gorge begin their seasonal performance, thanks to cottonwood, big leaf maple and western larch that light up the forest in red and gold.
It's one of the main reasons tourists visit to the area, but it's not the only reason.
Reasons to visit the Valley in the Fall:
You'll bask in nature's wild, uninhibited painted landscape. You'll wake up with Oregon's tallest peak shining bright at the end of the Hood River Valley, maybe even witness its first dusting of snow. After harvest, over 15,000 acres of fruit trees put on quite a show, too. There's the Fall Festivals and the local award-winning wineries' crush kick off.
Get Ready! October promises to over deliver with Fall splendor. With October comes our Drop Dead Savings!! Stay two nights, mid-week in October and take 20% off room rates! Visit Sunday through Thursday at the Old Parkdale Inn. As a true bed and breakfast our rates include a hearty breakfast prepared with the very best the Hood River Valley has to offer.
Let us be home base for exploring and enjoying the Hood River Valley and Mt Hood National Forest. After a full day, you’ll love the peace and tranquility of the Old Parkdale Inn. Relax in the gardens, perhaps with a glass of wine from a bottle you picked up at a local winery or our wine cabinet. We can even have a bonfire, roast some s’mores, if you’d like.
Outdoor adventures such as kayaking, windsurfing, skiing, snow boarding, and hiking await. Mt. Hood Meadows, Cooper Spur Mountain Resort, and Timberline Ski areas are only a short drive away, as is the vast Mt. Hood National Forest where trails and wildlife abound. We partner with Timberline Ski Areas allowing us to offer discounted lift vouchers to our guests. Stay at the Inn and take advantage of our partnership with Wet Planet Whitewater to receive $10 your raft adventure.
