Ramona Falls on this Waterfall Wednesday

Ramona Falls is one of the most captivating sights in the Mount Hood National Forest. Rather than plunging in a single drop, the waterfall fans out in delicate ribbons, cascading over a wall of moss-covered basalt and creating a constantly shifting pattern of water. The effect is especially striking in spring and early summer, when snowmelt swells the flow and the surrounding forest feels lush and alive.

The 7.1 mile heavily trafficked “lollipop loop” begins at the Ramona Falls Trailhead, starting along the Sandy River Trail, following the river on an easy, scenic path, with occasional glimpses of Mount Hood rising in the distance. Located just an hour from the Old Parkdale Inn, the trail incline incline is mostly gradual, with the most demanding section being the river crossing near the beginning and there are several worthwhile stops nearby to round out your day.
