Electric Vehicle Charging Stations at the Old Parkdale Inn
By: Mary Pellegrini
Our Electric Vehicle Charging Station install at the Old Parkdale Inn Bed and Breakfast was made possible by a rebate program through Travel Oregon and Forth Mobility. Travel Oregon and Forth were introduced to Durst Energy LLC and in tandem with Forth’s rebate program in Oregon Durst Energy LLC also partnered with Tesla’s destination charging program to access additional resources to support installation of our station. Tesla provided the Tesla chargers housed on our property. Certainly a joint effort to advance sustainable travel in Oregon.
These chargers, one Tesla and one ClipperCreek will be an amenity for our guests and also will be available to those passing through Parkdale along the Mt Hood and Columbia Gorge Electric Byway.
Midway between Hood River, the Columbia River Gorge and Mt Hood, the Old Parkdale Inn, with three well appointed guests rooms, is the ideal home base to tour the Hood River Country Fruit Loop, take an outdoor adventure, or simply slip into a quiet retreat. As our guest your vehicle can charge overnight as you recharge with our comfy accommodations, fresh brewed coffee and a hearty breakfast to start your day.
The Mt Hood and Columbia River Electric Byway offers a trip around Mt. Hood and along the Columbia River Gorge with sufficient charging stations along the route. Experience the rugged wilderness, fertile farmlands and charming small towns that lie just outside of Portland. Due to the location of EV charging stations along this route, drivers of vehicles with a range of 60 miles or less should travel the Mt. Hood and Columbia River Gorge Electric Byway in the counter clockwise direction.
Folks passing through Parkdale can, while charging up, walk into town, less than two blocks, and choose between Solera Brewery, Apple Valley BBQ or the Blue Canoe for a delicious meal, a cold beer, or a scoop of Tillamook Ice Cream. Moby Coffee Roasters offers Free Trade and Organic coffee in bulk, to go, or in their cozy coffee bar, open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Or you're welcome to relax in our gardens or front porch with a good book for as long as your charge takes. If we're home, please give us a shout out before you hit the road. We ask that your $5 charging fee be placed in the secure collection box on our front porch.
Let us be home base for exploring and enjoying the Hood River Valley and Mt Hood National Forest. After a full day, you’ll love the peace and tranquility of the Old Parkdale Inn. Relax in the gardens, perhaps with a glass of wine from a bottle you picked up at a local winery or our wine cabinet. We can even have a bonfire, roast some s’mores, if you’d like.
Outdoor adventures such as kayaking, windsurfing, skiing, snow boarding, and hiking await. Mt. Hood Meadows, Cooper Spur Mountain Resort, and Timberline Ski areas are only a short drive away, as is the vast Mt. Hood National Forest where trails and wildlife abound. We partner with Mt Hood Meadows and Timberline Ski Areas allowing us to offer discount lift tickets to our guests. Stay at the Inn and take advantage of our partnership with Wet Planet Whitewater to receive $10 your raft adventure.
