Earth Day 2026 takes place on Wednesday, April 22, celebrating its 56th anniversary with the theme “Our Power, Our Planet”. This theme highlights the shift toward renewable energy and global, collective action to protect the environment. Events include global cleanups, tree planting, and policy advocacy, with a focus on fighting climate change.
Celebrating Earth Day is a natural extension of how we welcome guests, with a focus on thoughtful, low-impact travel. By offering EV charging stations, we make it easier for travelers to explore the Hood River Valley while reducing emissions, supporting a shift toward cleaner transportation without sacrificing the freedom of a road trip.
We also encourage guests to connect with the place they’re visiting by choosing to shop and buy local. From farm stands to small-town shops, supporting local businesses keeps dollars in the community, reduces the environmental cost of shipping goods, and creates a more authentic travel experience rooted in the region’s culture and people. Once a week we receive our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) box delivered to our door by Hood River Organics. We plan our weekly meals with these ingredients.
Inside the home, that same philosophy continues. We prioritize organic, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible, offering fresh, seasonal flavors that reflect the richness of Oregon agriculture. Around the house, we use earth-friendly products from cleaning supplies to guest amenities that are gentle on both the environment and the people who use them.
Together, these small but meaningful choices add up, creating a stay that not only feels good, but does good—honoring Earth Day in a way that lasts well beyond a single day.
As you uncork these fine wines, keep in mind the Oregon’s winemakers that are stewards of the land. Many use sustainable farming practices in their vineyards where they delicately nurture the vines to produce incredible wines.
ReCORK was founded by Canadian footwear brand SOLE in 2008 and quickly grew to become North America’s largest natural cork recycling program. An unharvested cork oak tree lives an average of around 75 years. That life span increases to 200, 250 or even longer when trees undergo regular bark harvests. This remarkable example of sustainable agriculture is just one of the reasons we love cork, and we think it’s a shame for this incredible natural material to go to waste! Give your natural wine corks a second life with ReCork.
