Wahclella Falls is one of the most stunning and powerful waterfalls in the Columbia River Gorge. It cascades in two tiers—first a 48-foot drop, then a 79-foot plunge—bursting from a narrow gorge into a broad, emerald pool surrounded by towering basalt walls.
The falls were named in 1915, by the Mazamas, after an Native American village near Beacon Rock on the Washington side of the Columbia River. The USGS, however, still recognizes the falls as Tanner Creek Falls.
‘The Wahclella Falls Trailhead is easily accessible off Route 84/Columbia River Gorge Highway. The trail travels uphill with some steep and rocky sections following Tanner Creek upstream to the base of Wahclella Falls, which is one of the most popular waterfalls in the gorge. An early start is recommended on the weekends since the trailhead is often busy.’ AllTrails
Do not let the rain stop you from visiting Oregon’s Magnificent Waterfalls. They are even more powerful after the storms and many are a bit more difficult to get to once the snow falls. Not impossible for the adventurous but snow gear may be required. And Oregon’s spectacular Fall Foliage will be coming to an end soon. Come feel the mist of Oregon waterfalls on your face!
