Holiday Events in Downtown Hood River ~ Tree lighting, parade and freestyle event
By: Mary Pellegrini
The Hood River Downtown Business Council and County Chamber of Commerce will kick off their Hood River Holidays tonight, Friday December 3, and we have last minute specials available at the Old Parkdale Inn. The festivities begin with the city’s holiday parade, and the lighting of downtown Oak Street and the city tree. The main street will be closed during and after the parade for an evening filled with live music, food vendors, a bouncy house for the kids, children’s arts and crafts, and of course Santa. Holiday shopping will be easy too, as the downtown stores will be staying open late.
To keep it Hood River style, on December 4 there will be a snowboard and freestyle ski event starting at noon, organized by Pepi Gerald of 2nd Wind Sports and Wally Inouye of IPS Academy. This USASA (United States of America Snowboard Association) sanctioned Rail Jam will bring snowboard and freestyle ski competitors from around the region and around the country. The event will be held on Oak and State Street downtown starting at noon.
